Homemade hair moisturizing masks are an alternative to expensive cosmetics. They work as well, or even better than the stuff you can buy in a grocery store. DIY masks are 100% natural, without any chemicals, that might damage your hair instead of repairing them. And since you make them at home, you might be sure what you are putting on your hair.
Those masks work especially well in the summer and early autumn when the intensely warming sun makes the hair dry and brittle. Thanks to moisturizing masks, you can regenerate the damaged strands and protect them against the adverse effects of UV radiation.
The avocado mask will quickly regenerate dry and brittle hair. All thanks to the polyunsaturated acids (NKKT) contained in avocado, which smooth the hair structure.
In turn, honey, thanks to the content of zinc, silicon, and copper, will strengthen the hair from the bulb to the ends.
In contrast, grape seed oil, among all fats used in cooking, contains the most linoleic acid – a substance that moisturizes the hair and prevents them from breaking.
Preparation:
Peel one ripe avocado and blend at low speed. Add 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil, a teaspoon of honey and mix thoroughly. Apply the mask on moistened hair for 20 minutes, then rinse and wash your head with shampoo.
Castor oil is the most universal moisturizing cosmetic. It has 85% ricinic acid, oleic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid, which effectively nourish hair. Castor oil rubbed into the scalp strengthens, reduces hair loss and accelerates hair growth.
Cosmetic kerosene is a natural nourishing agent that not only nourishes, strengthens and prevents hair loss, but also eliminates the signs of dandruff.
Egg yolk contains a large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids and minerals that intensively nourish and moisturize the hair.
Lemon juice acts as a natural brightener, which is why it is recommended mainly for the care of blond hair. However, a few drops added to the hair mask will provide a beautiful shine and softness.
Preparation:
Mix 1 tablespoon of castor oil with 3 spoons of kerosene, one egg yolk and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the mask to the entire length of the hair and wrap the head with a towel. After 30 minutes, rinse and wash your hair thoroughly.
Banana prevents dehydration of the scalp, soothes irritations, smoothes, moisturizes and nourishes the hair.
Coconut oil has a large amount of lauric acid (about 60%) and vitamin E. Therefore it easily penetrates into the hair structure and intensively nourishes dry and brittle strands.
Natural buttermilk – contains lactic acid, which gently lightens, exfoliates and restores the proper acidic pH of the skin. In turn, it makes the hair shine, moisturizes them and strengthens their structure.
Preparation:
In a bowl, mash one ripe banana with a fork. Add 3 teaspoons of natural buttermilk, half a teaspoon of coconut oil and mix thoroughly.
Then apply the mask to your hair for at least half an hour. Rinse your hair and wash your head with shampoo.
Mayonnaise contains amino acids (which form the natural structure of the hair) and antioxidants that have strengthening and glossing properties.
Preparation:
Whip egg whites, add 1/4 cup natural yogurt, 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise and mix thoroughly.
Massage the mask into wet hair and leave for 30 minutes.
After this time, rinse your hair with cool water (heat will make the protein stick to your hair). Do not worry about the specific odor of the mask – it will disappear after washing the hair with shampoo.
Oatmeal has many valuable vitamins (E, PP, B1, B6) and minerals (e.g., selenium, magnesium).
The oatmeal hair mask will delay the aging process and protect hair from the effects of free radicals. Also, oatmeal forms a thin film on the hair, that protects hair against external damage, such as wind, sun or drying with warm air.
Almond oil contains mainly oleic (60-70%) and linoleic (20-30%) acids, many vitamins: A, B1, B2, B6, D, E, and minerals.
Thanks to this, it works very well in the care of dull, dry and damaged hair.
Preparation:
Soak 2 tablespoons of oatmeal in warm milk to make them bulky and soft. Then add a few tablespoons of natural yogurt and a tablespoon of almond oil. Apply the mask on dry hair and after 20-30 minutes rinse with water and wash your head with shampoo.
